FOCUS POCUS!

For past few weeks, my life has been filled with PEOPLE problems! I hate it. That is the reason why I have pets because I am just too tired of PEOPLE problems. I don't need to put up with all these craps!

I want to enjoy having my rabbits! Nothing brings a smile straight from the heart besides having my family (including all the rabbits in my herd), bunny friends, close friends, TLR supporters and relatives.

I truly love my life without all these madness created by mortals. When it comes to sharing my rabbits, I am happier because I have no strings attached. As oppose to someone with a business running, I have no fear of making losses because at the end of the day, it is just a hobby and as I have mentioned many times before, you can't even break even with a hobby. This gives me more options. Options best for both my rabbits and me. People just do not understand this. They think whatever consumer rights and bullshit applies to me but HELL NO!

The way I operate is definitely way below charity. Just do the calculations yourself. I feed my rabbits Oxbow pellets and on top of that unlimited Hay. Just do some survey on the prices and tell me how much it cost for me to keep the kits for 6 months. I am not too good with maths so you go figure!

And yet, people choose to make life miserable for me! I realized the difficult path that I have undertaken right from the start and I understand all the consequences that awaits me. But I will fight till the end. My fellow bunnies and friends will be with me till the end as well. Because we are fighting for a good cause. Not for mere humans, but for our dearly beloved 4 legged furry friends!

Repeat after me if you are with me.

IT IS ALL FOR MY BUNNY, IT IS ALL FOR MY BUNNY, IT IS ALL FOR MY BUNNY!

FOCUS ON MY BUNNY, FOCUS ON MY BUNNY, FOCUS ON MY BUNNY!

Now, skooOOOOoooo the NONSENSE!

I Fear For My Safety

I apologize to all my readers for not being able to write something more interesting. I just had the worst weekend ever and as if that was not enough, I now fear for the safety of not only myself but also my family. This is due to the reason that a psychotic and mentally unstable person is harassing me for my rabbit.

I have stated very clearly on my sales policy that I reserve full rights to revoke an agreement of sale. Somehow the message was not clear enough for this person and is being extremely difficult. It has came to a point of blackmailing and I am contemplating if to lodge a police report.

I am feeling very much in danger and I do not have the inspiration to write anything. I believe that I have disclosed too much information to the world and now at the crossroad.

I will continue writing nonetheless once I get this issue out of the way.

Please pray for my family and I. Thank you.

Just wish to share some details on the issue I have at hand. I decided over the weekend to terminate a sale agreement for reasons known to myself. At the end of the day it is my rabbits that I am talking about here. Who else have more authority over them than me right?

Anyhow, item no. 16 of my Sales Policy writes, TLR reserve the rights to revoke an agreement of sale at any point of time in its sole and absolute discretion, without the need to provide reasons for such revocation. Booking fee will be refunded.

And the policy has been in placed since 10th February 2009:

Highlighted in red is the publish date for my Sales Policy page

And the booking fee that I received for this particular deal that I terminated was on 6th March 2009:

The transaction of the booking fee into my account
The transaction of the booking fee into my account
I am currently making arrangement to refund the booking fee to the person in question. Unfortunately, the person in question refuses to provide me with the banking details I need for the refund. Instead, I was threatened with a set of terms in return.

Have You Seen An ARBA Leg Before?

I received an ARBA leg from Ms. Kay Miller on Friday. It is the first ARBA leg I have seen. For those who wants to know how a leg looks like, here it is:

The front of the leg with the information of the breeder, rabbit and the show the leg was obtained
The front of the leg with the information of the breeder, rabbit and the show the leg was obtained
The back of the leg showing how the GC and Best In Show certs look like. There are some rules on how a GC is to be obtained.

This is one hell of a leg because it outrun a mail from US I have been waiting for. I hope the mail arrives soon as I am getting quite paranoid already.

This weekend has been a very busy one for me and therefore I do not have much to write. Furthermore, I realized that my visit hits are much lower during the weekends. I guess everyone's busy with their family.

It is EARTH HOUR at 8.30pm for those who are participating. I am definitely participating! Lights off at 8.30pm!

Ouch!
Ouch!

Not his fault really. I have a bad habit handling the rabbits without wearing a shirt. That's on my belly.

I just have to say that it takes a lot of trust on both ends. Nico of The Fluffies has been one of the responsible pet owners that I have grown to respect. She takes good care of her pets and give them only the best. What pleases me most about sending Shiro to Nico is that, she has planned ahead what she wants for her pets and she is one of those who champions neutering of pets. That being said, I released Shiro knowing very well she will do what is needed of her accordingly when the right time comes. I also have to apologize to Ms. F for not sending Seychel along as it is hard to find good vets in Penang who is well versed enough to spay rabbits (sad but true).

Last but not least, I would like to thank Daphie & TJ for helping me "ship" Shiro up north tonight. Have a blessed safe journey home to the both of them! We'll find one day to gobble up at Nirwana Maju okie?

Something To Help Us All Get Back On Our Feet!

After being hit by the devastating news about Luna, I got a called from a very close friend informing me the passing of another high school friend. Everyone seemed to be dying young these days. As you can see, I am really really down. I hope today passes quickly. R.I.P. my brother Kahlil. May your soul be blessed. Please know that Luna's waiting for you up there if you need a companion.

Before I stepped into the house, I knew I must snap out of this bad vibes. And that is just what I did. At the back of my brain, I am a very broken person. But somehow, I just needed the strength to summon up the courage to keep negativity at bay. The moment I see them, I felt there is a mutual exchange of strength. How can I ever live without them?

R.I.P. Luna

I just received devastating news. Luna just passed away due to complications while undergoing her spay.

It is a very hard blow indeed. We all know the risks involved and at the same time, we want to be responsible pet owners. I wonder what else we can do to have the best of both worlds.

Binky free my baby. We love you. You will be dearly missed. My heart is shattered at the moment.

I know this is not easy for the Horsley too. I am more devastated by the fact that the children has got to go through this. The impact of this should be absorbed by me and only me. I am truly sorry for all our loses. Please know that we have all done our very best.

5th July 2008 - 25th March 2009

P/S: Please don't ask me anything. At this moment, this is the only way I know how to express my sadness. I don't know how else to express my shattered heart except through writing.

Tails From Meadow Haven Chapter 8: Reborn

"Who are you?"

"Who aaaRe you!?"

"I asked you first, so who are you?"

"No, you're in my turf, you answer me first. I don't give a tock if you asked me first, who are you?"

"Alright, alright, my name is Thunder. My man here's Clark, there's a lady up there somewhere is Carmel and the other lady higher up there is Haley"

"Who sent you?"

"You did!"

"Now now, don't tell me you are all cybernetic organisms!"

"Nay, we're Ivy Crescent's & Miller's Lagomorphas. Our bun masters came to know that there are tons of work to be done down here. So they sent us. We've got work to do. Get this place cleaned up and all!"

"You're all here on work assignment?"

"Not really, we're here to stay actually"

"Come on, are you serious? The only working buck here is me and I am the boss here!"

"Not anymore my friend. We could work together if you want to"

"I Skor, the descendant of GRIMLOCK works with no one! Skor is boss!"

"There's no need to be a cry baby now Skor. We've got enough ladies in the house. May the best buck win"

"But master say I am his favorite"

"We still are Skor. Master won't abandon us. We all have our destinies to fulfill. Just like when BlueBerry was sent up north. I have got news they rebuilt Meadow Haven there. It looks better than the old Meadow Haven too!"

"You really think so, Noobie?"

"Yeah, I overheard master telling his friend the other day that he's bringing us to get some New Turfs (Noobie's version of NEUTER). And he also said that we could stay together forever from then on"

"That sounds good. With the New Turfs, we can spread our empire far and wide! Hey losers, you heard that? I'm gonna be the new king of the New Turfs! You can do all the works you want back here in Meadow Haven"

The Undesirable 2

We all know that Holland Lops are one of the dwarf breeds. And being dwarfs, they were initially bred to have rounded skull. Just like the Netherland Dwarf, rounded skull poses a problem - Malocclusion. Which is the misalignment of the teeth. The classic example of this genetic problem is the bottom incisors outgrows over the top incisors. Breeders cull hard on this genetic trait. Sometimes this trait develops as the rabbit gets older. Malocclusion may start when the rabbit get old as well. Rabbits with Malocclusion could be extremely high in maintenance because they need regular trimming of the teeth by the vets and they must not be bred. The good news is, over the years "bigger" Holland Lops has been bred to spot the massiveness desired and their skulls are not too round anymore. This has lower the chances of getting Malocclusion greatly.

The history of Holland Lop tells us that they initially started off with solid colors and the broken was introduce by breeding them to the English Spots. While getting the broken patterns, breeders were unable to retain the rollback fur and therefore the French Angoras were used. That is the reason behind the occasional Fuzzy Holland Lops. The Fuzzy Holland Lops can be shown as American Fuzzy Lops but they can not be registered due to the reason that their pedigree will not show 3 generations of AFLs. And due to the reason that they cannot be registered with ARBA, although they can be shown as AFLs, they cannot be granded. To grand a rabbit, it has got to get 3 GC legs as we know and is registered with ARBA. This is another trait that breeders cull hard on as well.

I strongly believe that the Holland Lop is a breed that has many hidden recessive genes that certain combination of breedings may bring forth both desirable and undesirable traits. This is one of the reasons why they are a challenging breed to work with. They seemed to be like Pandora boxes opening up a whole new world with entirely new experiences for us.

Truffles

I hope the rabbitry is doing fine because I caught Truffles praying this morning. I am sure that I have done all the right things for all of them but somehow quite surprised that they are still praying. I guess you need faith whether you're doing good or bad.

Clark's Prayer For The World

Brought Clark out to watch the sun rise today. I am not too sure if he got the right direction to pray but I believe he was facing the sun. LOL! I guess the following was his prayers.

img_1853

Dearest BunGod,

Thy pray that Thee will keep us all buhnies safe and sound,

Please not take our legs away for every bun show,

Deliver us from the risk of G.I. Stasis,

May mankind be truly kind to buhnies,

Please keep all cousins and relations happy always,

For those that need to die, may they not suffer a slow death,

May all Bun Masters keep their jobs to fill thee stomach full and round,

Last but not the least, please get this bazoooka off my face!

We're Listed On HLRSC!

The Holland Lop Rabbit Specialty Club is a very interesting and enthusiastic club to join. They send superb newsletters that put a lot of newsletter I have seen to shame. Each issue is packed with information and there are nice pictures to enjoy as well. Although, I have only received 2 issues thus far, I love the Hollander!

If you are into Holland Lops, be sure to visit HLRSC's website too. There are many informative articles written by many renown breeders & judges.

There is a link to the list of breeders around the globe registered as members with HLRSC and I am very happy that TLR has been listed as one of them. Truly honored to share the list with so many amazing and great breeders.

Watching The Sunset

I brought Thunder out to the park today and he watched the sunset with me. Thank God the only thunder around was him. The weather was superb and as you can see, he enjoyed it very much. I love taking his pictures. This guy is so cute he could stop anyone dead in their tracks.

And naturally, he attracted the attention of many both young and old.

The Art Of Intimidation

One of my all time favorite movies happen to be Gorillas In The Mist. The relationship between wild beasts and humans really intrigues me. And the role of Diane Fossey was very well played by Sigourney Weaver.

gorillas-in-the-mist-dvdcover

As of late, I cannot help but to recall certain parts of the movie and one particular scene stood out among the rest. It was the scene where Sigourney Weaver wore a mask and pretended to be a witch to intimidate the poachers.

In many cultures, intimidation using the element of fear can be very powerful. Certain primitive cultures similar to those of people from the stone age can be very amusing to watch sometimes. For example, most Asians upon sighting a Caucasian, they could be very well behaved and takes every word he/she says as prophecies from God. Please do not get me wrong. I totally adore most Caucasians because they are darn good looking & drop dead gorgeous but on the other hand, I am a strong believer of respect and unfortunately, being good looking does not automatically earn my respect at first sight. One must gain my respect instead of instilling fear in me. There is no fast rule forcommanding respect. Unfortunately, there are many that I know whom are easily moved by fear. Someone can just wear a mask and that in itself is enough to intimidate.

With that said, I would like to share with you how Sigourney Weaver looked like when she wore that mask and made the poacher peed in his pants. I am sure anyone will command a great deal of respect if he/she comes here in such costumes. But for me, I'll take it as Halloween came early this year. LOL!

gorillas4

So when the time comes, I hope my fellow friends can spit at the face of the witch instead of pee-ing in their pants!

People who happens to be big in stature, normally uses their huge body as a form of intimidation and some uses their loud voices. Rabbits on the other hand uses a type of growl that send chills through your spine. Do watch out for the growls because they may be entailed by nasty bites or scratches.

At the end of it all, do know the nature of the person or animal you are dealing with in order not to get yourself hurt. At the meantime, do watch this beautiful movie!

Earth Hour: Switch Off Your Lights!

Let’s switch off all the lights in your house in unison just for 1 hour. The earth is in dire need of conservation. Let us all do our small parts to make it a big contribution back to mother nature. If we could do this on our own effort once a day, a week, or a month, although a small tiny contribution will impact the world in the long run. So when do we switch those lights off?

Date: Saturday, March 28, 2009
Time: 8:30pm - 9:30pm

Wherever you are, let’s do it for our EARTH! Just that 60 minutes without lights!

Spread the word on your blogs!

Classic Examples

I just want to write 2 classic examples as regards to the fate of rabbit in Malaysia that I have observed myself and also by friends.

The first classic example is taken from an encounter with a pet store selling rabbits. The first glance I had at this pet store, I did not realize that they sell rabbits except for an adult in a cage which is in poor condition. As I was passing the store again with SB & D, being very sensitive to the presence of rabbits, they found a few 4 week old looking kits in the cage above the adult rabbit I saw earlier. They also realized that the kits had no water and some were seen struggling to reach for water. D then approached the store owner to inform her of the struggling kits. To all of our surprise, the shop owner told D that rabbits should not be given too much water! And upon questioning, she said that too much water causes diarrhea. How amazing is that!? They are having diarrhea because they were too young! Either way, we concluded that the kits are fated to die.

Another classic example is about backyard breeders. We just stumbled across some very interesting people setting up rabbitries and blogs to promote and breed PET QUALITY. A rabbitry that specializes in PET QUALITY? Don't you think this is hilarious? I found it very hilarious because the rabbitry owner don't even know what he/she is doing. Joke aside, I only pity the rabbits.

So what's the relationship between these 2 examples? I am sure the Pet Store owner could be the bestest of friends with such ignorant breeders. They can hold hands and say they are champions! Because birds of the same feather flock together and the only thing they both have in common is the lack of knowledge.

Let's take a little walk down the future with more of these pet store owners and backyard breeders in this world. More rabbit owners will give less water to their rabbits and more pet owners will be owning/breeding pet quality. So we have lousy quality rabbits being treated in the lousy lack of knowledge manner and ultimately what happens?

DEATH.

Maybe death is a good thing because no more rabbits should suffer then. But death also may spell something good for certain people who believe in REPEAT SALES!

Kudos to all these IDIOTS!

The Actual Use Of A Pedigree

A grand champion listed on your rabbit's pedigree do not guarantee grand champion kits from breeding it. Then what is the actual use of a pedigree?

Let me explain first what I mean by my first statement above. When you breed a rabbit, you must know that the traits that you see currently is exactly what that is going to be passed on to its offspring. You should always go back to the fact that each parent rabbit will contribue one part of the gene. So how could you expect a rabbit from 2 generation above manifesting itself?

Here are a list of usage for pedigree:

1. Knowing the birthdate/age of your rabbit

2. Compatibility of your rabbit with other lines

In order to keep the desired traits, related rabbits near or far are bred to keep the gene pool in tact. Certain lines do not work well together and certain lines do because they may come from the same descendants. Knowing the ancestry will tell you roughly if 2 rabbits can compliment each other in that sense.

3. A rough guide to colors

Knowing the color of the ancestors may tell you roughly what color gene your rabbit carries. For example, Holly Hope is a lilac (dilute of chocolates) and Skor's a chocolate carrier because one of his parents is a chocolate rabbit. So the cross between Skor and Holly Hope will always yield chocolates and blacks chocolate carriers. So their kits will have both Skor and Holly Hope listed. If the kit happens to be a broken black like Truffles, you are sure to know that Truffles is a broken black chocolate carrier (chocolate gene courtesy of Holly Hope).

So what does all this means to a breeder? A pedigree is very important for a breeder that cares a great deal about what he/she is working on and most importantly for someone that needs to ensure exactly what they strive to produce. For a breeder that couldn't care less except to get kits, a pedigree is definitely not important to him/her at all because at the end of the day, there is no objective in what they are doing except for producing more rabbits with reasons only known to themselves. That's a big shame actually.

Natural Beauties!

Thunder says: Hear Ye! Hear Ye! We would like to thank thy SB, P & D for dropping by to baby us all today! Special thanks & gratitude goes to SB for holding on so tightly to the heavy piece of black thing that has a fat telescope protruding out from the front, while following our every move tirelessly and clicking away (what a mouthful-that's what the cheeks are for)!

Please note that Master Tim did not make us pose in these photos since we are given full authority over our publicity budget & planning. These are our own very creative poses. Not everyday is show day here in Malaysia!
